The LGBT+ VC Fellowship is a three-month program for college students interested in learning more about the venture capital industry. Students have the opportunity to network with investors and entrepreneurs, learn the fundamentals of venture capital, and conduct research on the innovation economy. Their projects support queer venture capital™, members of the LGBTQ venture capital ecosystem, and the broader private market and investment landscape.
About LGBT+ VC
LGBT+ VC is the first 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded to empower and educate LGBTQ+ people on the importance and benefits of venture capital investing.
To date, LGBT+ VC’s robust network includes investors and executives from leading angel syndicates, technology companies, and venture capital firms. The charity’s programs are designed to address the financial inequities in access to knowledge, networks, and capital.
About LGBT+ VC College Fellowship
The LGBT+ VC College Fellowship is a three-month program for college students interested in learning about the venture capital industry. The program offers students the opportunity to learn the foundations of venture capital, conduct research focused related to the innovation economy, and engage in networking with established investors and entrepreneurs.
Overall, the projects undertaken during this fellowship contribute to the advancement of queer venture capital, supporting members of the LGBTQ venture capital ecosystem and enhancing the broader underrepresented investor inclusion in the private markets.
Program Highlights:
- Education & Finance: Acquire foundational knowledge about venture capital, nonprofit, and social innovation, exploring its changing dynamics within the innovation economy.
- Networking: Engage with established investors and entrepreneurs to build valuable connections within venture capital.
- Research: Undertake research projects that directly contribute to the development of the organization, support LGBTQ venture capital and philanthropic stakeholders, and provide insights into the wider private market, investment landscape, and LGBTQ and allied communities.
Fellowship Responsibilities:
- Education: Learn and establish professional goals aligned with the fellowship and organizational needs
- Program: Own one (1) to two (2) high-impact projects to help inform LGBT+ VC’s mission and educational programs
- Growth: Assist in the sourcing and programming for the network including, but not limited to event planning, content creation, resource and opportunities management, and campus ambassadorship
- Event Support: Support the planning, sourcing, and development of LGBT+ VC’s national VC Summit and other programming.
Qualifications and Application:
- Open to college students passionate about exploring careers in finance, entrepreneurship, social impact, and/or venture capital industry.
- Strong interest in supporting the LGBTQ community within venture capital.
- Keen on making meaningful contributions to the nonprofit and industry.
Note: The fellowship projects and objectives outlined above are subject to adjustment to align with the evolving needs of the LGBT+ VC Fellowship. We’re building quickly, and other responsibilities will emerge. We’re excited to partner with people who can excel in ambiguity with a strong entrepreneurial drive and ability to take projects from concept to delivery.
